I am Bernd; born in Hamburg, but living in Berlin since 1987. Full of energy and enthusiasm, I am excited to take you to discover the city, with its dramatic history and exciting present.

For over half of my life, I have lived in various neighborhoods in this fascinating city (Kreuzberg, Tegel, Siemensstadt, Charlottenburg, Wedding, and currently Moabit). I have been witness to the remarkable changes that reunited Berlin experienced in the years following the fall of the Wall.

My first experience as a guide was 25 years ago, when I was a geography student at the Berlin Technical University (TU). I gave a tour to my classmates about “working opportunities for geographers” and fell in love with the job immediately.

In the 1980s, I was part of an action group involved with city and traffic planning. We organized guided tours on railway history and urban planning and explored old disused railway grounds in Berlin. Since 1999, I have worked as a professional freelance tour guide in Berlin, Potsdam, and the surrounding state of Brandenburg.

Starting in 2001, I have guided general cultural tours for German and international school, college, and university groups. Since 2011, I have specialized in 20th century history tours and tailor-made programs for students of economy, technology, and art and design. I also guide groups with a professional interest in urban development, architecture, and constructions. As I studied geography and environmental planning and management at the TU Berlin, I am especially passionate about all topics related to science, technology, and urban planning.
